Summary of the international final • Women’s Swing
One last madness…
An appointment hanging on the branches for our French with a passage to +1. Rather balanced until 6, France fails to take advantage on the par 5 of the 7 and misses the par on the 8 and 9 where Spain makes a birdie.
Takeoff, Spain leads after 9 holes. Then a nice reaction from the French on 10 with birdie but still bogey on the enormous par 5 of 14. The long-awaited reaction finally arrives with the sequence of birdies on 15 and 16 while the Spaniards let go of their shots still at the limit out of bounds and drop the stitches. The 17 could have given us the advantage but bogey for the two teams with comma to arrive at the start of the 18 tied.
At this moment we say to ourselves that everything is playable. The two teams roll in the middle of the fairway and a little too far to take the green in 2 but Manuel (index -2) tries a 3 iron shot out of the water… and ball in the water.
Diego tried to belay but scratched ends 2m from the water hazard while our Frenchmen belayed by putting themselves on the right in the rough 60m from the green. Corner kick 4m from the Victoria flag, we tell ourselves that we are not bad, while the Spaniards put green at 15m… After that, we know the rest.
