3 Luxury Cars Scotty Kilmer Thinks You Can’t Afford

If you like remote cars, there are probably at least a few floating around in the “dream garage” in your head. Maybe there’s a Ferrari or an old Land Cruiser. Or, if you’re more practical, there may even be a Toyota Prius.
In case you’re not sure what kind of cars you’d choose, Scotty Kilmer, a master mechanic and automotive YouTuber, recently posted a video about three luxury cars you could consider for your dream garage. However, he warns that you may not be able to afford it.
2018 Lexus LC500h
Let’s admit that the Lexus LC 500 undoubtedly occupies the real estate our dream garage. After all, we gave it the “Best Driving Experience Award for 2021”. But it was the V8 model. The LC 500 that Scotty Kilmer details in his video is a hybrid model that combines a V6 with a pair of electric motors and a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined output of this configuration is 354 hp and 30 mpg, which is shocking considering this is a supercar.
Powertrain aside, the LC 500 Hybrid is super comfortable for two people. Of course, there are two seats in the back, but they are more suitable for child seats than for real adults. The leather is supple and the controls are easy to use. The suspension is also comfortable.
“Being a Lexus, it drives like a dream. For a short-base sports car, I’ve never been in a car that drove as well as this,” Kilmer said.
Too bad a 2022 Lexus LC 500h costs over $113,000, which is unobtainable for most Americans. Also, used examples sell for between $70,000 and $80,000 nationwide, which helps but is still out of most people’s budget.
Toyota Supra 2020

Just like the Lexus LC 500, we also really like the new Toyota Supra. Forget the fact that it has a BMW engine and interior. The Supra drives great and has the winning formula that makes any sports car great.
“It’s a classic roadster; it has a conventional big engine up front – in this case, a turbocharged six-cylinder. It has two seats and classic rear-wheel drive. In reality, this Toyota Supra is a Canadian, Austrian BMW Toyota. It’s a premium European roadster,” Kilmer said. “Remember, when you buy a Supra, you’re not buying a Toyota. You buy a BMW. You buy the speed, the handling, the smoothness of the ZF 8-speed transmission.
All of these factors contribute to a well-sorted and well-built sports car that produces over 300bhp. We love it, and so does Scotty. But putting one of these cars in your real garage will cost you over $60,000 whether you buy it new or used.
Lexus LS500

To complete the Toyota/Lexus dream garage, Kilmer chose the Lexus LS 500. The LS 500 is the brand’s flagship luxury sedan that is full of chrome parts and plenty of opulence. “This particular edition is loaded. It actually costs more than what I just sold my mom’s house in Niagara Falls for — and there’s not even a bathroom in it,” Kilmer said.
It may not have a bathroom, but the LS 500 has plenty of luxurious features like massaging seats, soft leather upholstery and noise canceling technology. “If you drive in there, you might feel better than before the trip,” Kilmer jokes.
The LS 500 is also powerful. Under the hood hides a 416 horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It’s safe to say that the Lexus LS 500 has it all. It’s no wonder a new one will set you back over $100,000, and used examples will cost almost as much.
The best cars you can’t afford
Although there are plenty of cars that you would probably put in your dream garage; the three chosen by Kilmer are prime examples. Each offers power, prestige and reliability that any car enthusiast would want. It’s just a shame that most can’t afford them.
